The Practice Team
Practice Nurses
Sister Heanue RGN
Sister Salmon RGN
Sister Lockley RGN
Our practice nurses are in surgery
from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. They can help you with your minor illnesses
and are trained in health promotion and screening. Their skills include giving injections, taking
smears, managing asthma and other chronic lung diseases, diabetes and blood pressure problems.
Health Care Assistant
The health care assistant is not a nurse but is trained to carry out a range of procedures such as taking blood, taking blood pressure readings, doing heart tracings (ECGs), and new patient health checks.
Other
Health Professionals
The PCT also employs district nurses, midwives, health visitors and counsellors who work within the surgery. If you wish to see the counsellor, you will need a doctor's referral.
Appointments and/or further information are available via reception. The health visitor is based at Selly Oak and her contact telephone number is 0121 204 1841
Practice Manager
Behind the scenes our practice manager is in charge of the administration and staff of the practice
and will personally help answer any queries or complaints which you may have about
our service. We welcome any comments you have about the running of the practice
including any constructive suggestions for improvement of our services.
Other valued and essential members of the team
are receptionists, secretaries, administrative and cleaning staff.
GP Training
We are an advanced training practice
and are approved to train doctors who have had extensive hospital experience and
who intend to become GPs. They work with us for up to a year and are fully capable
doctors and are under our supervision. Please accept them as one of us. From time
to time we also have medical students from Birmingham Medical School. When students
are in the practice you will be informed and have the right to request to be seen
alone by your doctor if you wish. |
