Appointments With Doctors And Nurses

You can see a doctor or nurse during surgery time by contacting the surgery and making an appointment via our receptionists. You can also book some routine (ie non-urgent) appointments via the internet. Please speak to a receptionist to register for this service. You may consult any of the doctors but it is best to see the same doctor each time, especially if you have a continuing problem. If this is the case, please book an appointment in plenty of time – we will always endeavour to comply with a request to see a specific doctor, but this may not always be possible if the appointment is not booked in good time and you should understand that, in such instances, you may have to wait longer to be seen by your preferred GP.

In urgent cases, particularly sick children, you will be seen on the same day although not always by the doctor of your choice.

Surgery Times - Reception

Our usual opening hours are 8.00am to 6.30pm each weekday. We also offer early morning and/or evening appointments on most weekdays. Individual doctors’ hours vary within these times during the week.

Our telephone lines can become very busy at peak times (8.00 to 11.00am each day) so you may be put on hold for a short time when we answer. You will be offered the next available doctor’s appointment, usually within 24 hours, but if you feel the problem is urgent and cannot wait, please tell the receptionist.

In urgent cases, particularly those involving sick children, you will be seen on the same day although not always by the doctor of your choice.

If you cannot keep your appointment, please let reception know as soon as possible so that it can be offered to another patient who may need it. Please note: we monitor non-attendance of appointments. If, after a warning, the problem persists, we would regard that as evidence of a breakdown in the doctor/patient partnership and in such instances reserve the right to remove the patient from our practice list.

OUT OF HOURS

If you need to consult or speak to a doctor when the surgery is closed (before 8.00am and after 6.30pm Monday to Friday and all weekends and Bank Holidays), you should telephone the out of hours GP services on 0845 113 0004. (This number is also recorded on the surgery’s out of hours recorded message, for your information.) If necessary, they will pass the details to the out of hours provider, staffed by local GPs including the surgery’s own GPs.

You may also telephone NHS Direct for health advice at any time on 0845 4647 or contact them online at www.nhsdirect.nhs.co.uk. They will also be able to provide you with information on the local walk-in centres.
