Paracetamol is Safe To Take During Pregnancy

Posted on:

We would like to remind and reassure our patients that it is safe to take paracetamol during pregnancy, and it does not harm unborn babies. There is no evidence that taking paracetamol during pregnancy causes autism in children.

Paracetamol is recommended as the first-choice pain reliever for pregnant women, used at the lowest dose and shortest duration, and can also be used to treat a fever (i.e. a temperature of 37.5C or more).

Patients should not stop taking pain medications, as untreated pain and fever can pose risks to an unborn baby.
