Welcome to Wychall Lane Surgery

In order to tackle the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY

  UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO

To reduce the risk of potential coronavirus cases coming into the surgery, we have temporarily changed the way we offer appointments.

All routine and emergency GP appointments will initially be offered as telephone appointments only. You may be offered a face-to-face appointment with the GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner after speaking to the GP, if they feel that is necessary. A receptionist will take a brief description of the reason you are calling, so that we can best decide how to help you and to ensure we can provide care for those who need it most.

We are currently trialling video consultations at the surgery, which a GP might offer during a telephone consultation. You will require a smartphone for this. Alternatively, you can download the LIVI app for a video appointment with a GP, not at the surgery.

Prescriptions can be ordered online and sent to your pharmacy electronically. To reduce the risk of medication shortage at pharmacies, we will issue a prescription for only one month. Your pharmacy should then be able to offer medication on a monthly basis for a further eleven months. You can no longer collect paper prescriptions from the surgery. You can request access to sign up to online services via Patient access.

If you have to stay at home because of coronavirus and you need a note for your employer, you can use NHS 111 online to get an isolation note.

We are continuing to offer routine nurse appointments (including dressings, removal of sutures and vitamin B12 injections), urgent blood tests, urgent blood pressure checks (if requested by a GP), contraceptive coil fitting, blood test appointments, and 6-8 week baby checks and immunisations.

Smear tests, NHS Health Checks, joint injections and minor surgery are, unfortunately, being postponed. We will contact any patients who have already booked appointments for these. Travel vaccination clinic has been suspended.

Home visits may be offered at the GP's discretion.

---

Everyone must stay at home, except for very limited purposes.

If you have symptoms of coronavirus (a new, continuous cough, and/or a high temperature), do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

Visit to our coronavirus webpage for more information.

---

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • You feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • Your symptoms get worse
  • Your symptoms do not get better after 7 days

Only call NHS 111 if you cannot get help online.

For a medical emergency, dial 999.

This message is being regularly updated.

Thank you for your co-operation during this challenging time.
